any alternative to hormone replacement?
my situation: i had my ovaries removed due to a tumor growth when i was 12 or 13 yrs old.
i dont remember the word that means of having menopause surgically not naturally by age . so im a young 20 yr old with menopause. and thats not normal.
since they have been removed, i have been taking birth control pill to recieve those hormones i need and to have periods. i have been using the ortho evra patch for a couple of years now.
what im worried about is the side effects of taking these medications in the longrun just to recieve these hormones.
is there any other way or medicine so i dont have to worry about having a heart attack or some other sickness at an early age

ok. for those who dont know the female reproduction system... ovaries make eggs . with the hormones it makes u have periods.
as for me.. i dont have both.. so i dont get periods normally.so i need medication. understood?
Do not worry, the reason why doctors have prescribed you contraceptives is to provide you the hormones you do not produce because it is not likely that you will have more problems than benefits with the pills/patch use.
If you do not smoke, even better.
Contraceptives have a protective effect against endometrial cancer. Negative effects on other organs are still controversial.
They increase bone density, reduce the risk of benign mama tumors, incidence of hirsutism- hairs without female distribution, or more evident-atherogenesis prevention-and improvement in acne.
The cardioprotective effect might be related with the atherogenesis prevention. It is a fact that healthy women in reproductive age non smokers are not prone to have heart attacks in comparison with males same age.
One thing is to receive hormones due to surgical induced menopause than during physiological menopause.
